Dennis Gates took over Cleveland State after seven players transferred from a team that went 5-13 in Horizon League play in 2019. Now he has the Vikings fighting for a home game and an eighth league win with a patchwork roster. Dennis Gates is the Horizon League Coach of the Year.

Youngstown State remained a strong contender for the Horizon League Tournament three-seed and made Friday's matchup between Wright State and Northern Kentucky significantly more meaningful by blowing out the Raiders 88-70 on Friday. Elsewhere in the league, Milwaukee fell out of contention for the three-seed and Oakland's surge up the rankings continues.

While the top and the bottom of the Horizon League Power Rankings are starting to take shape, the fight for the three-seed is as interesting as ever. Green Bay's big win over Milwaukee should've given it a big edge on the competition, but UIC's beatdown of Northern Kentucky wound up the bigger story. Outside of the race for third, Oakland pulled a weekend sweep and is looking dangerous heading into the Horizon League Tournament.
