It isn’t often you add to your college basketball roster after the calendar turns to September.
Oakland had the chance to do so in recent weeks, and they just took advantage.
West Virginia transfer Jeremiah Bembry has joined the team at OU, and will be ready to go for the upcoming year.
Bembry is listed as a three-star transfer, and was a top three ranked player left in the portal at the time of his commitment, per 247 Sports transfer rankings.
Bembry started his college career at Florida State, where he redshirted during the 22-23 campaign. He then transferred to West Virginia for the 23-24 season, where he played in eight games before seeing his season end due to injury.
On West Virginia’s roster, he was listed at 6 ‘5, which is great size for a guy who’s primary position is point guard. Only time will tell what position Bembry will log most of his minutes at for the Golden Grizzlies this year, but his size profiles nicely in the zone Oakland continues to deploy.
Due to his injury at West Virginia, Bembry applied for a medical redshirt, and is waiting to see if his request will be granted. If so, he will be classified as a Freshman with four years of eligibility remaining. If declined, that number drops to three.
With this addition Oakland now has a full roster.
