A chaotic offseason for Cleveland State came to an unofficial close on Tuesday, when the Vikings formally announced the program’s ten newcomers for 2025-26, and published a full roster for the upcoming year.

Here are the 14 players set to wear the green and white:

Obviously, Maples, the 2023-24 Horizon League Player of the Year, Hurley, and Fegan are CSU’s three returning players from last season’s squad. Kajevic is an incoming freshman who signed on back in November.

Eight of the ten players included in the school’s announcement (those with linked names in the roster above) have been covered here previously, leaving Colby Guinta and Sur Lozano as the biggest news items of the day.

A Top Spanish Prospect

Lozano is the latest in what’s becoming a long string of Spaniards to head to Northeast Ohio, including new teammate Pique (who undoubtedly disagrees with Lozano on some soccer matters) and 2024 graduate Carmen Villalobos.

She will be one of just two true freshmen on the team, alongside Kajevic, though she already carries an impressive list of accolades from her prep career with Movistar Estudiantes, Real Canoe, and Zentro Basket Madrid. Lozano’s teams qualified for the Spanish championships in 2021, 2023, and 2025, and she was also part of a 3×3 team that won a silver medal at the 2024 state championships, and advanced to the national tournament.

Though Lozano was the top scorer in the state regular league in 2024 with 15.0 points per game, undoubtedly, her ability to defend and run the floor were also massive draws for the CSU coaching staff. At 6-1 (or 5-11, depending who you ask), she can play a big game, but Lozano is also an outstanding passer who can creatively finish at the rim.

“Sur is a skilled, versatile guard with size,” Vikings head coach Chris Kielsmeier said in the school’s announcement. “Her international experience has prepared her to play at a high level of competition.”

A Veteran Bomber From DIII

Guinta, on the other hand, is closer to the opposite end of her college career after spending the last three seasons at NCAA Division III’s Suffolk University.

She has been an every-game starter since her freshman year, thanks largely to her ability to contribute in a lot of different ways. In 2024-25, she averaged 14.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game, as the Rams went 13-13 overall.

Really, though, Guinta’s three-point shooting is what truly sets her apart, a strength that has the added bonus of easy translation to Division I. Last season, she hit 55 of her 139 attempts from deep (39.6 percent), with each of those numbers ranking among the DIII leaders. The New Hampshire native connected on four triples on four separate occasions, including a 4-for-5 effort against Gordon College on February 5th (which helped match her career-high 25 points), and a 4-for-6 line at Western New England six days later.

“Colby is a focused, passionate and hard working player,” Kielsmeier said. “Her offensive ability stood out to us in the recruiting process, and we are excited about her continued development at the Division I level.”

Guinta is also a perpetual honor roll selection who earned Commonwealth Coast Conference Winter/Spring All-Academic honors in 2023-24. Her father is Frank Guinta, who was formerly a United States congressman and the mayor of Manchester, NH.
