With only four games left in the regular season, the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee broke a four game skid against Indiana University Indianapolis on Feb. 10 with a 92-88 victory inside The Jungle in Indianapolis.

Originally scheduled for Feb. 28, the matchup was moved because of the overall changes in the Horizon League as a result of Winter Storm Fern. The change benefited the Panthers, who were in need of a win to snap their second, four-match skid of the season.

Head coach Bart Lundy spoke after the team’s loss to the University of Detroit Mercy last week, and said the Panthers needed to get their fight back as they continue to overcome adversity.

“It’s wearing on us a little bit … I told them, ‘They’re not pulling for each other [and] we got no leadership,’” Lundy said. “It’s more — somebody takes a shot and everyone’s questioning the shot — and that’s a bad place to be.”

The team took Lundy’s words to heart and finished the game with a combined 48.3% from the field — the highest percentage it’s recorded since the loss to Cleveland State on Feb. 1.

Despite crucial injuries to the Panthers’ core lineup, Amar Augillard has paced the floor with his contribution of 13.1 points per game.

In the matchup against the Jaguars, the offensive leader was Chandler Jackson, who scored a career-high 25 points off the bench. He also recorded this feat by scoring exclusively in the paint with seven made field goals and 11 made shots from the free-throw line.

Although Jackson was a key contributor, Augillard added to the scoring column with 17 points, made three three-pointers, nabbed seven rebounds and dished out two assists.

Defensively, the rebounding for the Panthers was crucial in the win as they outrebounded the Jaguars, 46-32. Milwaukee’s bench also proved reliable as 49 total points were scored by players who were not starters.

Aaron Franklin was one point shy of a double-double with 11 rebounds and nine points. Esyah Pippa-White also started for the first time in two games and recorded eight points.

In total, three Panthers scored in double figures with Stevie Elam rounding out the scoring with 14 points and a perfect five-for-five from the free-throw line.

With the win over IU Indy, Lundy’s all time series lead over the Jaguars improved to 8-0. It also brought Milwaukee’s record to 10-17 overall and 6-10 in Horizon League play.

Milwaukee is still in the top 10 of NCAA Division I teams whose players have missed considerable minutes due to injury. In total, the program has a combined nine players who have missed over 80 games this season.

Notable injuries to the Panthers:

  • John Lovelace Jr. sustained a leg injury in practice before the start of the 2025-26 season, which sidelined him for the year.
  • Seth Hubbard suffered a season ending shoulder injury, which Lundy announced on Dec. 14 after his last appearance in the game against Robert Morris University on Dec. 6, 2025.
  • Danilo Jovanovich is finished for the remainder of the season following the game against Wright State University on Jan. 30.

It’s not all bleak for the “walking wounded” as the lineup is starting to return its core players.

The Panthers welcomed back Faizon Fields against Detroit Mercy after he sustained an ankle injury in the contest against Wright State to start the New Year. The team’s Freshman contributor in Elam returned in the game against Northern Kentucky University after a foot injury he sustained against Wichita State University.

Looking back at Milwaukee’s previous contests, those matches were against the league’s top teams in Wright State, Detroit Mercy and Northern Kentucky, with an exception of a two-point loss to Cleveland State.

Milwaukee is back in action for the battle of I-43 against the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. Eastern Time Feb. 15 at UWM Panther Arena.

Live coverage will be available on ESPN+ and 101.7 FM The Truth.
