Robert Morris Outlasts St. Bonaventure in Preseason Exhibition Contest

Following the men’s exhibition on Tuesday night, the women’s team had its turn to prepare for the upcoming season Wednesday evening with a preseason match against St. Bonaventure.

Robert Morris was tested late, but the Colonials were able to pull out a 72-67 victory over the Bonnies to kick off Year 3 under head coach Chandler McCabe.

McCabe’s starting lineup was similar to what Andy Toole ran for the men’s team the night before. The unit featured three newcomers, two of which being transfers, as well as two returning members.

But from the Colonial side of things, the evening was highlighted by the duo that’s new to the program, as sisters Teigh and Timberlynn Yeast stole the show with stellar performances.

Teigh, an incoming freshman, recorded 22 points on 50% shooting from the field, adding on two threes and an 80% mark from the free throw line. She also showed out defensively and underneath the glass, tallying two steals and two rebounds.

Timberlynn, a redshirt junior transfer from Marshall, scored six points but made her mark on the defensive end. She grabbed 11 boards, five of which were offensive, dished out six assists, and nailed three of her seven shots from the field. Yeast was the Thundering Herd’s leading rebounder last season, and Colonial fans got a taste of that exact aspect of her game.

Speaking of transfers, Meghan Murray was also a key contributor in her first game with the program. The junior from Kent State shot perfectly from the field, knocking down two threes and notching 11 points overall. She was especially clutch in the final moments of the contest.

Murray’s 11-point performance matched her career high she achieved last December against Davis & Elkins.

The last of the three double digit scorers was Myriam Traore, with the junior posting 10 points, as well as two rebounds and three assists. Traore shot four-for-nine from the field but made both of her attempts from beyond the arc. The 2025-26 Horizon All-League Third Team member will look to be a big piece once again for the Colonials this season.

St. Bonaventure, as well as RMU, had three players score in double digits. Kyla Hayes recorded 20 points, and Brillana Boyd and Ella Trinkaus each notched 10. Trinkaus posted a double double, also grabbing 10 boards in the effort.

Despite the late comeback attempt from the Bonnies, Robert Morris held a lead for virtually the entire game. The Colonials led for 39 minutes and 56 seconds, 99.8% of the contest, as a driving layup from Teigh Yeast got things started just four seconds in.

Both teams posted near even percentages from the field, but where RMU separated itself from the pack was beyond the arc and at the charity stripe, recording better numbers from both sides of the court than St. Bonaventure.

Despite being out-rebounded by the Bonnies, the Colonials notched more assists and less turnovers in the same amount of possessions.

Next Up

Robert Morris opens its 2026-27 regular season at the UPMC Events Center next Thursday night, November 5, as the Colonials welcome the University of Illinois Chicago to Moon Township for a contest that tips off at 4 p.m. eastern.

That matchup is the first of a three-game home stand to open the season, with Delaware State and Eastern Michigan also coming to town, before the Colonials head downtown to face Duquesne on November 16.
