Northern Kentucky’s 2–0 start came to an abrupt halt on Friday night, as the Norse fell 104–67 to Texas A&M in College Station. The Aggies controlled the game from the opening tip, using a blistering offensive start, relentless defensive pressure, and efficient shooting to hand NKU its first loss of the season.
Texas A&M opened the game on an 11–0 run in the first three minutes, sparked by Jordan Pope’s early layup and jumper, a pair of finishes from Jalen Shelley, and a mid‑range shot from Cade Phillips. The fast start forced NKU to burn a timeout, but the Aggies continued their momentum immediately afterward as Pope added another layup to extend the run.
The Aggies maintained control throughout the first half, shooting 62 percent midway through the period and stretching their lead to 32–20. A 13–0 run, beginning with a Zach Clemence layup, pushed the margin as high as 23 points. Texas A&M entered halftime with a 52–32 advantage behind 12 points from Pope, while Willie Foster led NKU with 11 at the break.

Tyshawn Archie ignited a 12–0 run that extended the Aggies’ lead to 85–56 with 6:12 remaining. Moments later, Mackenzie Mgbako buried a three to begin another 12–0 surge, pushing the margin to 102–63 with under two minutes left. The Aggies closed out the night with a 104–67 victory to improve to 2–0.
