On Wednesday afternoon, junior college point guard, Jaylon Holmes, announced he had received an offer from Wright State. This is his ninth D1 offer for the upcoming season. Wright State currently has 13 players on its 2020-21 roster (11 on scholarship plus two walk-ons).
Holmes spent his first three high school years at Bowman Academy. His senior year, he transferred to Merrillville High School in Indiana, where he made a name for himself. In his one season, he was known for his defense and has continued that through Junior College. Through his first six games at Merrillville, he averaged 18.3 PPG, 7.2 RPG, and 2.5 SPG.
Last season at Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, Illinois, the guard averaged 9.3 PPG, 6.1 RPG, and 3.4 APG. In an early December win against Olney Central he had a triple-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. He also had three double-doubles on the season.
His tape shows a speedy, lengthy guard, with great basketball IQ. He is quick to the basket and very aggressive.
Holmes has also received offers from UAlbany, Chicago State, Detroit Mercy, Eastern Illinois, North Florida, Portland, Towson, and Western Michigan.
