It’s probably fair to say that Bob Dunn had a productive Sunday. He made an appearance at a Cleveland Guardians game to throw out the first pitch, in connection with the MLB team’s Cleveland State Day promotion.
A couple hours before Dunn’s strike, Elliot Leffler announced her commitment to CSU, becoming the first member of the Vikings’ 2027 incoming class.
The 5-9 guard is a rising senior at Indianapolis’ Roncalli High School, where she helped the Royals to Indiana’s Class 3A championship game last season – the furthest the Catholic school has ever ventured in the state playoffs. The defeat one step short of the crown had little to do with Leffler, who scored a game-high 22 points in the title clash, including a three-pointer late in the third quarter that put Roncalli ahead. However, she was limited by a leg injury down the stretch as her team faded.
She did plenty before that too, including nearly 19 points per game over the course of her Roncalli’s 27-win 2025-26 season, an average double that of anyone else on the roster. Leffler shot 40 percent from the field overall, including 33 percent from three-point range, and totaled 162 rebounds (5.2 per game), 52 assists (1.7), 63 steals (2.0), and 11 blocks (0.4). That was more than enough to earn a second-five selection to the Indianapolis Star’s 2025-26 ALL-USA Central Indiana Super Team, and likely a position as a Miss Basketball contender during her senior year.
Prep Girls Hoops presently ranks Leffler as the 11th best 2027 prospect in her basketball-mad home state, and offered a glowing review of her work earlier this month:
She is a strong guard, physical on attack, and she can finish in a variety of ways through contact. She also has really nice touch from outside, and with range. She defends with effort, she always plays with energy at both ends, and she is going to figure out ways to contribute each game.

Leffler’s game is tailored for pin-down screen actions and off the basketball movement. Even when Leffler is playing the point, taking advantage of reads and cuts that her teammates are making without the basketball is pivotal. Leffler’s skill set and IQ lend itself to being a consistent vocal leader on the defensive end of the hardwood as well.
As might be expected of such a player, she had several well-regarded programs knocking on her door, including offers from Purdue Fort Wayne (while under the direction of former coach Maria Marchesano) and Southern Indiana.
In the transfer portal era, projecting any roster forward is likely an exercise in futility. However, as things stand, Leffler will join what could be a veteran group next season, as the 2026-27 Vikings have just two players on their final year under the NCAA’s new eligibility rules.
