The time has come!

Some time after the 2020-21 season ended, Matt Dudek, John Parker and I had a conversation about the direction of the HoriZone Roundtable. Naturally, that led to the conversation about Horizon League women’s basketball. Since up until that point, we only covered the men, it was essentially a no-brainer to move forward with expanding out coverage.

That led to a few episodes with women’s hoops coaches that included Cleveland State’s Chris Kielsmeier, Kyle Rechlicz from Milwaukee and Maria Marchesano, who has been hired as the new head coach at Purdue Fort Wayne. Shortly after this, our first dedicated women’s writer, Kyle Rossi, came on board, covering CSU primarily but also writing a number of league-wide pieces as well.

During this same time, our counterparts at Reaching the Summit (reachingthesummitpodcast.com), who cover the Summit League, began their own expansion of coverage that took it a step further. They added women’s writers and started a women’s podcast as well.

Taking what they did, along with what we started at the HoriZone Roundtable, as inspiration, we made the decision that Horizon League women’s basketball should have its own dedicated site.

So, here we are. HoriZone Roundtable WBB has officially arrived.

John and Kyle are in charge, and Kyle will continue to provide the same outstanding coverage of Cleveland State as he always have. Blake Schumaker, who came on board with the HoriZone Roundtable as a men’s basketball writer for Wright State and also published some women’s articles, will bring his women’s coverage here as well. And Brayden Wilinski is slated to write about Green Bay.

That means, of course, we have some spaces to fill on the editorial front.

As we always are on the HoriZone Roundtable site, we are looking for writers at HoriZone Roundtable WBB as well. Naturally, we have a Help Wanted page on this site with a form you can fill out if you’re interested. You can also DM John (@horizoneJohn) or Kyle (@KyleHZRT) on Twitter, and you can email us at horizoneroundtable@gmail.com.

Other than that, stay tuned for more great content that will come for this site.

Let’s go!
