Little more than a month and a half after former IU Indy Paul Corsaro filed a tort claim notice to the IU Board of Trustees through his legal counsel, the six former Jaguar players who came forward in April with allegations of their ex-coach’s abuse have also sought legal action. In their case, it came in the form of a lawsuit filed against not only IU Indianapolis, but the university system’s Board of Trustees.
The six players, Nathan Dudukovich, Caleb Hannah, Briggs McClain, Ebenezer Ogoh, Ron Rutland III and Julian Steinfeld, initially submitted their complaint in April 2025 through Columbus, OH-based attorney Rex Elliott from the law firm of Cooper Elliott. The lawsuit itself was filed on behalf of the ex-Jags through local attorney Daniel J. Buba of the law firm Doehrman Buba Ring.
The text of the complaint itself outlined five areas of contention: Negligence, negligent infliction of emotional distress, negligent hiring, training, supervision and retention, breach of contract and respondeat superior, meaning that IU Indy and the IU Board are legally responsible for the acts and omissions of their employees.
The full text of the complaint filed in Marion Superior Court can be read here:
In addition to the initial complaint, four exhibits were also filed in court. Exhibit A is the initial complaint filed by the players on April 15, 2025, which outlines allegations of abuse, both for them and others on the IU Indy squad during the 2024-25 season. The complaint, as submitted through Elliott, was submitted to IU Indy athletic director Luke Boso, IU Indianapolis chancellor Latha Ramchand, Karloa Stevens, the Director/Deputy Sexual Misconduct and Title IX Coordinator at IU Indy, Jennifer Kinaid, who holds the same title as Stevens at IU Bloomington, and senior director of human resources at IU Indianapolis.
Exhibit A can be read in its entirety here:
Exhibits B and C are the letter and email sent to Joshua Spindler, who serves as associate general counsel at IU Indy, the latter exhibit reiterates the allegations made on April 15th, the liabilities that would eventually be further fleshed out in the suit that was file, and an estimation of damages outlined by Elliott, which totaled $2,438,708, based on lost tuition, future scholarships, NIL deals and earning capacity, as well as damages for emotional distress. The full Exhibit C can be read here:
Exhibit B is a correction of the dollar amount on the damages estimate, and can be read here:
Finally, Exhibit D is an email sent by Anthony Prather, vice president and general counsel for the whole IU system, which rejected the claims made in Elliott’s letter to Spindler and stated clearly that there would be no negotiations for any settlement. The full text of this exhibit can be found here:
Should this lawsuit move to trial, it is expected that these ex-players will take the stand, and their teammates and assistant coaches from the 2024-25 season, as well as Bosso and other members of IU Indy Athletics, may be called upon to testify. As for Corsaro’s tort claim notice, there has been no movement in public related to this, up to and including a lawsuit filed by Corsaro himself. Regardless, IU Indianapolis and the IU system as a whole may very well be on the financial hook at the end of this saga in some way, shape or form. The only question at this point is which party will be compensated.

You know the adage “when it rains, it pours?”
Seems like the only way IU Indianapolis can get attention is via a public relations nightmare.
By the way, what happened to our Jaguars beat reporter?
