It’s been 10 years since Jimmy Lemke and I started this podcast, and a lot’s happened, as you all know. I won’t take too much of a trip down Memory Lane here. If you want that, Episode 300, which we posted in May, will be more than enough.
But I’m taking a break. Without going into much detail, I had a death in the family on Thanksgiving, and I had the brilliant idea of trying to power through as if nothing had happened.
That turned out to be a mistake. And by the way, as a side note, check on your people, especially during the holiday season.
So, here’s what’s going to happen. I won’t be hosting our regular podcast with Jim Sarow. We’re fortunate enough to have a host of people who will step up to the mic and take my spot. December 28th will be my last one of these for a while.
I’m also off of the men’s Power Rankings, which Griffin Beers will take over and will still be available early for our Patrons, as will Kyle’s women’s Power Rankings. And there will still be exclusive Patreon-only features, including James Moon’s video game series and Eric Fischer’s Guess the Former Player, so you should continue to join at patreon.com/horizoneroundtable.
I’m not completely going away, though. I will still be co-hosting the Expand Your Horizon: Preview Edition with Jim. Plus I’ll be doing some backend stuff, but not to the extent of what I’m doing currently.
One of the benefits of having the group that we have is that there have been no shortage of people willing to chip in to keep things going. Ideally, you really won’t know that I’m far less involved. That includes the site, the podcast, Patreon and, of course, our donation drive, which you can contribute at horizoneroundtable.com/donate.
We do still need someone to take over on the editorial side for the men, which I’m still working on internally, not to mention that we still have an opening for a Milwaukee writer. But if you’re interested, you know where to go to learn more and apply: horizoneroundtable.com/help-wanted.
I have long said that the HoriZone Roundtable, in its current form, should remain a source for fans, as well as players and coaches alike, no matter the cast of characters. I don’t know when I will return in a full capacity. What I do know, though, is that those who work and contribute here make this sudden transition rather easy. So please continue to listen, read and contribute financially. You’ll never regret it.
